Lake Effect Diner on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" Tonight on the Food Network
Great New York style: thin crust, giant slices, cool toppings...and baked ziti on the side.
Tucker Curtin, the owner of Lake Effect Diner, has switched to buying from local farmers whenever possible. This means fresh locally-grown food is now being served at our favorite Buffalo diner. While we wolfed down eggs benedict and pancakes, Tucker talked to us about the switch to processing their food right at the diner. The Lake Effect Diner cuts or processes their own meat, Italian, pork, and turkey sausages. They make their own dry mix for pancakes, and Tucker explained the rest of the recipe, talked about how they're curing their own bacon, and using local maple syrup.
Guy Fieri just shot an episode for the Food Network at the Diner, so soon they will be "famous". The food was great, and it was pleasant to spend time listening to someone who is really enthusiastic about his business.
Inside or out on the patio, Betty's is a great place for breakfast.
